Jennifer Hansen has worked as a Certified Child Life Specialist for 10 years.
She has served in many different areas within the hospital, mostly focusing in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit where she supports families facing medical uncertainty, diagnosis, injury, trauma, and end of life. During these experiences, Jenn has observed that most families share similar concerns and questions: “How do I talk to my child about hard truths and stressful circumstances?” “What do I say when my child asks about scary events?” “How do I help my child understand sickness and treatment?” These parental worries both motivated and inspired Jenn to bring Child Life services to the community.
Jennifer started her private practice, The Coping Tree, with the foundational belief that parents and their children can strengthen connections and relationships despite unexpected and difficult challenges.
When Jenn isn’t working, she looks for opportunities to hike, read and eat chocolate. Her favorite escape is spending time with her husband, adult children and 5 grandchildren.
